How did Fayetteville Forward start?

Fayetteville Forward began with an economic development summit held in April 2009. The summit didn’t try to reinvent the wheel or duplicate previous work but instead, the summit built on and connected previous work in a fully collaborative process. The end product was intended to provide a detailed economic development plan and time line which can be utilized through 2012 for the City of Fayetteville. What came from those two days is so much more.

Participants created a list of action items that they felt would contribute to the economic development of our community.

In addition to the economic development plan, 87% of participants stated that they would be willing to continue donating time to work on the numerous other action items identified. With so many people interested in taking part in Fayetteville’s future, we knew it couldn’t end with the summit. That’s why Mayor Jordan began the Fayetteville Forward Economic Accountability Council to continue the momentum.
